AFP, PNP to netizens: 'Stop sharing Abu Sayyaf threat video'

A group of people claiming to be members of the Abu Sayyaf and Islamic State terrorist groups appear in a video threatening President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, a report on “24 Oras” said Wednesday.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are both aware of the video, and are currently taking steps to have it deleted from the internet.

PNP spokesperson C/Supt. Wilben Mayor said sharing the video on the internet may cause unnecessary panic among the public.

“We appeal to the peace-loving public, especially to the netizens, na huwag nating i-share ito, huwag na nating ilabas pa o padamihin. Because once na inilabas niyo 'yan, na-achive na ng kalaban natin ang purpose nila,” he said.

For his part, AFP spokesperson B/Gen. Restituto Padilla said, “There are authorities acting on this material so that they can be deleted. The criminals whose faces appear in those materials can be identified, and they can be 
hunted.”
